Hello. My name is Kumar Murugan, and I wanted to talk to you about the story of my company, Delicacy of South Asia. I’m sure you’ve had a look around the site and seen for yourself what we’re about, but I wanted you to get the story directly from me. My team and I are proud to be the very first provider in the East Midlands who are serving Crepe Dosa Batter. If you’re interested, read on to hear my tale about what I believe and how I came to be here, providing incredible foods.
What Inspires Me?
So what actually inspires me to do well and keep producing a company which focuses on artisanal foods? The inspiration that I’ve had for the company comes from the childhood I had watching my mother cook and make incredible dishes all through my childhood. Her unwavering commitment to making these incredible meals, and experimenting with such fervor meant that my childhood was full of original Indian recipes and plenty of spices!
The lesson she imparted on me was that even though traditionalism is important, it’s also okay to take those concepts and change them slightly. In essence, she taught me to be brave enough to experiment, to find my worth, and to make my own mark on the culinary arts. I try to do this at DOSA as much as I can by using the stories of our families and my personal values to create a business.
Crêpe Dosa Batter
Of course, I owe a lot to the dosa batter which we’ve had so much success with. It’s something which comes from present-day in South India. Over there, it’s a popular dish which is also healthy, and I’m confident that when it’s talked about enough over here, it’ll gain popularity in a big way. The texture is a lot like pancakes, and it’s pretty versatile. You can mix it with a lot of different other tastes and flavours to make a lot of different options. Plus, this type of batter is gluten-free, full of healthy carbohydrates, and suitable for vegans. You see, I believe that delicious food should not be restricted to one particular food group.
How do we Manufacture?
The manufacturing process that we follow comes from traditional elements of creating the batter. However, this doesn’t restrict any type of nutritional or health benefits that the batter has become known for. What we’ve tried to do is stick to the tried and tested methods as much as possible, which is why we’ve got a stone grinder that we have had imported from India to generate that authentic taste. We focused on using this simple, plant-based, fermented food to create a flavor some meal that is good for both the fast and busy lifestyles, as well as people who are looking for something good to eat that’s not going to do them a lot of harm.
What are the Nutritional Benefits?
Of course, dosa batter has quite a few different nutritional benefits to it that makes it such a healthy lunch option. For example, you could stuff it full of vegetables to provide a massive nutritional value. Dosa batter itself is vegan friendly, gluten-free, high in proteins, healthy carbohydrates, low in fat. It’s everything that you could want if you were looking for a healthy meal option, which is why we love it so much.
Final Thoughts
So, what is it that I wanted to do when I set out to create this company? Well, I want to bring people great food, and bring my passion for cooking into the world of business. Some of my happiest memories were eating delicious meals with my family, and I believe that that kind of love and joy is something everyone should have.
I have worked hard for a long time now to be able to introduce these incredible food products to people, to bring a little bit of South India to the United Kingdom, and I’m pleased to say that we are in a position to do that for a long time to come. It’s the realisation of my dream, the combination of my journey that began in that kitchen with my mother all those years ago, and I’m so grateful that I am in a position to be able to do this.
